Focus, the Association for Sustainable Development, and the Jožef Stefan Institute conducted a public discussion about the long-term climate strategy and the expectations of different stakeholders and groups: political parties, interest groups, NGOs, and others. Guests from the EU NGO Climate Foundation and the European Commission attended the event.
The key question addressed at the conference was: How should Slovenia follow scientific findings and ensure the consistency and appropriate ambition of climate policy in Slovenia?
The Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning presented Slovenia’s Long-Term Climate Policy Framework: Slovenia and a Healthy Planet at the conference. To reach the goals of the Paris Agreement, the Long-term Climate Strategy up to 2050 of Slovenia was prepared within this framework. The opportunities for achieving the climate neutrality of the EU by 2050 were presented by the backers of the study From Whether to How commissioned by the European Climate Foundation. The insights generated during the discussion contributed to the preparation of Slovenia’s climate strategy.
